Printing/Scanning

Do you have a minimum order size?
Yes, in order to keep our operation sustainable, we have a $100 minimum order size.

What does "print ready" mean? How do you want me to send you my files?
We like files at 300dpi at the intended print size. If you have a file that is 150dpi at 4x6 but you want to print it 8x10, you will need a larger file. We would like a file that is 300dpi at 8x10. Please send your files via wetransfer.

What is the typical turnaround for an order? Is there a way to get it done faster?
For single prints, it usually takes 3-5 business days. For scans, it depends on the current flow of work. 1 week is usually a good amount of time to get a scan done. Frames will vary, we often have a few pre-made which can be turned around very quickly. Otherwise, standard turnaround for a frame is 2-3 weeks. If you have a deadline you are working with, please let us know.

Do you offer rush services?
Yes we do, please let us know what your timeline is like. There are often rush charges associated with work that is turned around quickly.

Do you offer pick ups/deliveries?
Yes we do, please inquire with detail on your location and your timing and we will do our best to accommodate. We currently offer these services in and around Los Angeles.

UMICO PRINT PROCESS

1. Send print-ready file to art@thisisumi.co via attachment or wetransfer, dropbox, or alternate transfer service.

   — Please include the following information (printed size, borders or full bleed, paper type, quantity)

2. We will send an invoice, once that is paid we can begin work.

3. For orders of quantities under 5 prints, we will text or email when your order is done.

4. For orders over quantity of 5 prints, we will print one first and you can come in and approve, and then we will print the rest.

Please note that it is normal for prints to not exactly color match the original.

FILE SET UP INSTRUCTIONS

When you send files to be printed, please check to make sure they are print ready.

This means we print files exactly as they are sent to us, whether they’re psd, jpeg, tiff, photoshop - make sure the file you send is exactly how you’d like it to be printed. If it is not, we can set it up for you for an additional fee, which starts at $20.

We require files to be 300dpi, at your intended print size. An easy way to check this is to open the file in Photoshop, go to IMAGE and then Image Size. If the resolution is lower than 300dpi at the size you’d like, we recommend printing at a smaller size or adding a white border to make the image size smaller.

If your file is not the same dimensions as you’d like to print it at, we recommend either adding a white border around it, or cropping in on the image to make it fit. See examples below.

If you do not have photoshop, you can check the image size by selecting the file in finder, going to FILE and then Get Info. Under the “More Info” section there should be a line with the Dimensions of the image. You can then convert these dimensions into inches, and that will tell you what size the file is.

If you do not have the means to set up a file the way you’d like it to be printed, we can set it up for you for a fee of $20.
